I started a new life when I picked up the paint brush again. Paul Elliott was my first watercolor teacher. Painting mostly landscapes but some figures. I loved it when we traded paintings. Than I went to the Hampton's, NY City and studied abstract watercolor. My brother, Fr. Ron, gave me a present for a week stay at New Florence, Pennsylvania to study Byzantine iconography with Phil Zimmerman using acrylic gouache. Vladeslav Andrejev, Proposon School of Iconology who teaches icon writing in the Byzantine-Russian tradition using egg tempera has been my present teacher. Went to Italy and studied egg tempera with Fred Wessel.
My latest adventure was when Joyce Stewart and Joan Chubback offered a free class on porcelain painting in the FASST gallery in the Oak Dale Mall in Binghamton, NY. I always admired their work and I took the opportunity in taking this FREE class. It was my first exposure to porcelain painting. I felt I was painting with pudding. I had no control but it fasinated me. I wasn't sure if my personality would fit with this media and subject matter but than two ladies, Bonny Eberly and Sue Fedor, came into the gallery and they had a book they showed me on Peter Faust. I knew than I wanted to learn more because Peter just flipped my lid with his work. I self invited myself to dinner so I could get to know who these porcelain ladies where? I enjoyed them and here I am taking porcelain lessons every Monday night from Joyce Stewart and finally getting some control over the pudding media.Vickie George came to our area an I took her workshop on birds. I was fortunate to study with Rocio Borobia in Florida learning new medias and exploring textures.
